Community Grant Updates
In the past quarter, Trusted Seed has not only advanced in its own initiatives but also kept a keen eye on the wider ecosystem's achievements. An essential part of our journey is recognizing and celebrating the grant milestones that fuel not just our projects but also those of our peers and partners in the field. Here's a rundown of significant grant-related developments from across our connected communities.
- Glo Dollar x Arbitrum DAO: Our campaign to fund the upcoming Trusted Seed Quests concluded successfully, garnering $194 in donations from 68 unique contributors, plus 336 USDGLO in matching funds from Glo Dollar. Funding from this grant will be used as USDGLO rewards for individuals who successfully complete quests centered on philanthropy and regenerative practices. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us!
- Octant Epoch 3 Grant: ReFi DAO successfully made it through the Octant Epoch 3 funding allocation, paving the way for a fruitful partnership with Trusted Seed and Regen Score. This collaboration is set to compile an extensive dataset of on-chain ReFi actions, enhancing the collective impact within the global ReFi DAO network.
- Token Engineering QF Grants Round: Spring 2024: Do you know a token engineering project that could use some funding and recognition? The Token Engineering QF Grants Round: Spring 2024 is now open for applications, inviting innovative projects in research, education, software development, and social infrastructure to advance token engineering. With a $50k matching fund, supported by TEC and Gitcoin’s extra allocation to this round, this is a prime opportunity to amplify the impact of token engineering projects. Applications are open from April 2 to April 16, with the donation round beginning on April 23. For eligibility and application details, visit the Token Engineering Grants Portal.
Strengthening Leadership and Vision: Welcoming New Faces
We’re thrilled to welcome two remarkable individuals to our team, Luiz and Gideon! Luiz (ReFi Barcelona) steps in as one of the Gardeners, ready to cultivate our community's growth with his vibrant energy and innovative thinking. Gideon comes on board as an advisor, offering valuable insights and expertise to guide us through the strategic pathways of our mission. His involvement also enhances our connection with the TEC, aligning with the fact that most $TEC holders are members of Trusted Seed, fostering a harmonious and strategic relationship.
As we enrich our leadership with these fresh perspectives, we continue to uphold our practice of monthly board meetings. These sessions are integral for syncing up, sharing updates, and collaboratively shaping the direction of Trusted Seed.

ReFi Unconference Barcelona
ReFi Unconference Barcelona, organized by a collaboration between the Crypto Commons Association, ReFi Barcelona and Trusted Seed, acts as a vital bridge between prominent local eco movements—such as degrowth and cooperative initiatives—and decentralized technologies, essential for fostering an eco-social transition. We place particular emphasis on community-led initiatives like the development of local nodes, recognizing their instrumental role in bridging local needs with a global network of change-makers.
With a focus on urgent local issues, like the devastating water crisis in Spain, and broader global challenges, such as the imperative for coordinated action on climate change, ReFi Unconference Barcelona addresses the pivotal role of regenerative finance and decentralized technology in resolving these crises. Exploring Web3 affordances for dMRV and pioneering public goods funding methodologies, the event strives to chart a course towards a more regenerative future.
At its core, the ReFi Unconference Barcelona is designed to foster deep, high-quality conversations on the current state and future trajectory of the regenerative finance movement. By tackling emerging opportunities and tensions head-on, the event provides a co-creative space for participants to connect and explore avenues for realizing a community-led regenerative economy.
Sustainability & Regeneration
😀 Max Semenchuk
Since the start of the year, I have been puzzled about the measurement of Trusted Seed’s impact on Global Ecological Health. There are different methodologies like Ecological Benefits Framework, Ecosystem Services, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the key insights after the conversation with Kent from CarbonCopy was that to make a regenerative impact you need to be a regenerative organization. Otherwise, for example, we can be trapped with reductionist metrics like CO2 emissions (as the only focus). As a next step, we plan to track the impact of the community by counting our collective Regen Score.
Funding Strategy – We're engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including OP, the Regen Network, and TEC, to gather testimonials and evaluate our role within the ecosystem. We're also developing case studies and partnership agreements to demonstrate the impact of our work.
Finally, we're working hard to increase the capacity of the Trusted Seed Community. We're focusing on aligning gardeners and the board vision and plan to improve team cohesion through retreats, creative workshops, and a focus on complexity and systemic science. We're pleased to share that our budget has a planned 60% increase this year ($131k in 2024).
